Tioman trip! First snorkeling trip!
Back track to 2010, July... 17 Jul to 19 Jul, Holiday trip with my sec sch clique girls. And this is the first time snorkeling with them at Tioman island. I can't wait for it to come as it was just right before my uni started and getaway from my work. This trip although we have planned for months, it seem that we only managed to get the accommodation just the week before we set off. Seriously felt screwed up at first due to the "famous travel agency", never want to travel with them again (bad experience, horrible company policy! but the lady who helped us is nice!) Forget all the sudden horrible things happening in SG , is time to enjoy myself with my sec clique and have all the fun over Malaysia. Ways before I can enjoy my trip, in the morning of getting set off to the meeting point already met problems... In the morning, I met Daphne for breakfast at Mac however it was raining like cats and dogs since 4am. I can't believe that my home area TPY was flooded to ankle level at first. After having our breakfast, we tried to get a cab but failed... Called for 1 entire hour yet still no cab wanted to pick us up, ended up I asked my dad to fetch us down to Newton hawker center (where we supposed to gather). Before we can even reach the place, floods at newton circus traffic road and more places showing the sign of flood too. Ended up my dad drop us at novena and we took train down to try our luck n see whether can go from the other side. However, I can't believe that the flood reached our knee level and the water is not clear de. It is mud water and never want to know what is in it. Daphne and me ended up walking in the flood water in order to get to the destination where the rest already waiting for us there. Felt bad to let them wait for more than an hour, no choice due to the bad weather n crazy situation at newton area. I was totally wet n felt disgusting due to my shoe had to endure the crazy wet muddy condition. After all the stints, finally set off to Tioman, Malaysia custom first! Time to spam photo in the van! left photo: pui kwan & ginnette right photo: lisa, daphne & me left photo: shalee & lisa inside the van right photo: all of us! 6 girls going to set off to some island to getaway! Finally its time to set off, the van driver uncle abit unsure the direction where to avoid the flood (malaysian driver). Ended up i sat in front to guide along, as he still need to pick up some others travelers from woodlands as they also can't get to the place due to the flood. Around 9 plus, we are at the malaysia custom, and take pic in the toilet. There is a super long queue for the buses or vans to arrive n pick us up. The journey to Mersing jetty (where we need to get to the jetty n take up ferry to Tioman) was very smooth and super fast totally like in race course as there is alot of turning and curve roads! By right it might took up to 4 hours of bus rides. but we seem to reach there within 2 hours plus and managed to board the ferry on-time! Felt so lucky and finally can get out of SG! left photo: pui kwan, ginnette, me & daphne (at custom's toilet) right photo: everyone except me, photographer (inside the ferry getting to set off to Tioman) Top left is mersing jetty! Top right is the boarding pass! Bottom photos are the tickets to Tioman and the marine park ticket! The ferry journey still raining! Totally raining for the whole morning! The ride was quite bumpy due to the strong current. I can't be bother by the waves as I used to it already. Plus feeling tired since I had only slept for around 4 to 5 hours the previous night, so I had fall asleep in the ferry journey after spamming some photos. Sleeping time! left photo: It was still raining even when we were in the ferry! strong current waves! right photo: Finally saw the beach and where we were going to stay in! So lucky to get out of the ferry first as the ferry got other villages to go, there is like 8 pit stops. This was where we were going to spend 2 nights, Tropical coral inn is the resort we had booked! left photo is kampong genting village (a very small village) right photo is the huts that we were spend our nights in there After the tiring traveling journey and check in to our rooms, it was already 2 pm plus to 3 pm already. Everyone were hungry and tired but first thing to do was to fill our hungry empty stomach! Before heading out to explore for food, time to spam photo outside our resort! nice views that we had! Spam photo time! Really nice view of the sea! So Clean and Clear! Top photo: 3 v 3 (equally divided among ourselves) obvious trend we have Bottom photo: all of us tgt with the aid of tripod (right outside of our rooms) Hungry! Time to find food! This is the only chinese restaurant and the uncle cook everything himself! power right! decent food in such kampong life! And the restaurant decorate with beautiful unique seashells! I was really hungry and energy level really low! Can tell from the photo that I really want to eat anything in front of my eyes! And don't been fooled by pui kwan and shalee! You will think that they were drinking beer in the middle of the day, impossible that is chrysanthemum tea! After our meals, we were walking around the villages and did some window shopping on the craft work first! Not in the hurry to buy gifts for family and friends. So we walked down to the other side of the beach to take a look and camp there for the whole afternoon hope to see sunset! Spam photo! Nice and quiet beach life! It is just so pretty that you won't want to left the place! Right photo: Lisa and Me We had done things like went up to the wooden bridge like being abandon as some of the woods are falling apart, dancing & singing at the beach like having mini concert! And of course with camera = all stints of postures! High up on the bridge! Left with me, pui kwan and ginnette to explore further! There will be always jump shots with me! My favorite stint to do always! Waiting for sun set but it was too cloudy that it blocked everything out! Wasted! Enjoying the beach life and waiting for sun set! Day 2 at Tioman!Daphne and I wake up early since nothing to do before our breakfast! Time to explore before joining the rest for breakfast! We found swing and hammock near our room! While waiting for breakfast to be ready, spam photo first! Everyone look so fresh and can't wait for our snorkeling trip! Before start eating our breakfast, photo time! After breakfast, we got changed and prepared for our snorkeling time! Time to gear up with the mask and lifejacket! IT IS Time to set off for our snorkeling! Sun tan cum paparazzi time! Left photo: all of us going into the marine park visitor hall Right photo: prepared to swim near the beach to look for fishes! photos of what we saw during snorkeling! beautiful corals and fishes! Ginnette was holding sea cucumber! and right after I took her photo, she immediately threw it at me! Expected incoming "pink bomb" from her! After the snorkeling trip and our lunch, we went to visit the waterfall. It was quite a distance journey to reach there as it was at the bottom end of Tioman! The current was quite mild at the time as it was going to rain soon and we prayed super hard that it don't come so soon! The 3 of us sitting in front of the speed boat! Me, Daphne and Pui kwan! The front seat have the best view of the sea and it is like first class seat! Simply can feel the strong current wave when the speed boat in the high speed, just like sitting on roller coaster! Finally, we had reached the jetty to the waterfall around 30 min of boat ride. We still need to walk for quite a long distance up to the waterfall but the weather did not seem to be too good to hang around there long. We had tried to swim across the pond to get up the waterfall. Only 3 of us tried to get there with another group of couples! Me, Pui kwan, Ginnette and another girl from the travel group! However, after sitting on the waterfall for awhile we realised that the water pouring downwards were getting heavier. It does not seem right, so all of us looked up and it started to rain! We got out of the waterfall and looked for the shelter! While we were waiting for the rain to get smaller, we chatted with the other couples who were with us to the waterfall. But the rain did not seem to be getting smaller, so all of us decided to run all the way down to the jetty where it was safer and we might tried our luck to go back to resort! All of us were drenched! We just tried our luck to board the speed boat in the raining day and strong current! It was so choppy ride back to the resort! Everyone were squeezed at the back of the speedboat except me as we scared the rest might not used to the strong wave and anytime anyone might have seasick! I was in the front of the speedboat with the snorkeling instructor. Both of our butt felt the hard impact of the currents. So every time a wave approached our boat, both of us immediately stand up. When we were about to reach our resort, ginnette was down with seasick and can not take it anyway with the bumpy ride! Fortunately, she was alright after awhile when we reached our resort and changed from our "wet suit". Time for dinner after we all bathed and changed to clean clothing! Some scenery shots for the day! Day 3 Time to pack up and prepare to leave Tioman! So short vacation but we all had fun anyway! Before we set off for home, we still had the whole morning to continue exploring the village! Left photo: Me on the swing Right photo: Daphne and Lisa on the hammock Left photo: Ginnette on the hammock Right photo: Pui kwan on the hammock with her bandage leg! More group photos before we left the place! Our last lunch meal at Tioman! All this was pre-ordered first as the uncle cooked everything himself! Decent and delicious meal we had! Really missed the food! And it was time to say goodbye to this fantastic beach island, wonder when I will go there again! We had exactly 4 cameras with us and spam photo like madness! Impossible to upload all here, all can be found in facebook and other blogs by the rest of us! There is like 3GB of photo for the whole trip!
